Mommy Indulgence #1 - My "Me Time" Favorites

We have all heard the phrase that mom's get "no days off".  This is true, very true.  So what do I do when I do get these rare days off?  Ok wait, unless I am in a totally different city and state from my girls, I do not get any days off!  It's more like a few hours to myself, and I better enjoy them because as soon as I'm back home it's time to clock back in.  I'll be revealing my most favorite things to do during "me time" in a series of posts, subscribe to the blog to follow along.

Simple outings to my favorite store, Target, rejuvenate me like I've been to the spa.  Going up and down the household cleaning product aisles is like Christmas in (insert current Month here)!  No matter what I go to Target for, I always end up in the household cleaning product section before going to get what  I've gone for.  The smell of cleanliness and items lined perfectly on the shelves helps to curb my desire for the same in my home.  It takes everything in me to not purchase any of the items, especially if I already have more than enough products to use at home.

After browsing the household section, I'll grab what I've gone for and go to other stores like TJ Maxx and Home Goods.  We've recently moved into a new house and I'm longing to decorate every room since this is the first place that feels like home.  I'll look at all of home decor on clearance and see if there is anything that I can purchase and justify purchasing once I get home.  I most often just browse around for ideas and leave the store headed to grab an indulgent drink or meal.

Today's outing consisted of me having to grab groceries at the end of my outing.  So since I knew that I would be going to the grocery store, I skipped the indulgent meal and decided to see if there was anything at Aldi that appeased me.  As I finished up the shopping list, I looked at cheesecake, cookies and sushi.  I didn't get the cheesecake because there were 2 slices and I didn't want to share.  I didn't get the cookies because they're amazing and I've got them way too often.  These cookies are the Benton's Caramel Coconut Fudge Cookies, very much like the Girl Scout Caramel Delites and I would only end up eating the whole package before the end of the night.  The sushi?  There was no fresh sushi being made in the store so that would be a bad idea.  As I accepted the fact that I wouldn't be getting an indulgent treat this trip, I passed by a bag of popcorn.  My favorite popcorn.  Caramel and cheese flavored popcorn.  And of course it was reasonably priced since this was Aldi, so I grabbed it and paid for my groceries.  To make sure that I could eat it on the drive home, I held onto the bag as I took my cart back and opened it as soon as I left the store!

I enjoyed most of the bag before getting home and was greeted by my girls once in the driveway.  It was then that I knew the rest of my indulgent treat would be going to them and that I had just clocked in.

How We Met

My freshman year of college consisted of many days spent in my dorm room, doing work and....sleeping.  I wasn't much of a social butterfly before college and that really didn't change throughout those years.  I stayed in Pride Hall at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University (NCAT).  Little did I know, my husband also stayed in the same dorm hall. I made friends who I would go to the cafe with, hangout with in each other's rooms and make quick trips to find food off campus.  There was one guy who I had not met but knew of through my friends.  One day I was told that a guy named Clint really liked me and wanted to get to know me.  Something really funny is that I knew of another guy named Clint, who I was somewhat attracted to, that stayed on the floor below me.  The whole time my friends and I talked about "Clint", I thought we were talking about the guy downstairs, however it wasn't the same person. Once I figured out which Clint liked

Smoothie Clean-Up

Let's be honest, after making a smoothie, there is a mess.  Who wants to make a smoothie when all you can think of is the mess to clean afterwards?  I thought the same until I realized that I could clean the blender as fast as I made the smoothie, before my first sip. What you'll need: Dish soap Water Directions:  Fill the blender about half full with water, add a few drops of dish soap.  Of course my favorite soap is Mrs. Meyers because a little goes a long way.  Close the lid tightly, and turn on!  Let the blender run until all debris has been washed down from the sides of the blender.  Rinse thoroughly.   This is a great method for a quick rinse of your blender between uses throughout the week.  Deep clean the blender after two uses.  Choosing an effective dish soap is key to making sure that all debris from the blender has been removed.  If any debris is left after the first rinse, repeat. My In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) Experience

I remember while growing up of hearing the phrase "test tube baby".  This phrase was derogatory, insulting and used commonly as a joke.  Never did I think that I would need science to conceive.  Fertility, in the minds of most couples. is an intimate and private subject.  Once we began the doctor appointments and realized just how costly IVF would be for us, we decided to go public with our journey.  Crowdfunding is very common for raising funds for various things.  We created a GoFundMe page and started the Our Little Cannonball campaign. Unfortunately, we did not raise any substantial funds towards our procedures but we did gain supporters and a small amount of money was raised which helped with meals and gas while on the go.  I was browsing the internet one day and decided to randomly apply for a personal loan.  To my surprise, we were immediately approved for a substantial amount that would allow us to afford the procedure.  Our IVF cycle plans had to be paid in full be
